TowerJazz to build traffic monitoring sensor

The customer is headquartered in Antwerp, Belgium.

TowerJazz (Nasdaq: TSEM; TASE: TSEM) will manufacture a new image sensor for fabless high end image sensor designer CMOSIS.

TowerJazz will manufacture the 12-megapixel CMV12000 at its Fab-2 in Migdal Ha'emek.

TowerJazz said that the new CMOS sensor is well suited for a broad range of industrial, movie and TV, traffic monitoring and motion control applications.

The value of the deal was not provided, but TowerJazz claims the total addressable market for industrial sensors is estimated at $750 million, out of which the machine vision sensor market is estimated at $200 million, according to a report it cited, “The Future of Image Sensors Market and Technology Forecasts to 2014,” by Roy Szweda.

CMOSIS currently employs almost 30 people and is headquartered in Antwerp, Belgium.

TowerJazz shares closed yesterday at $1.49, giving a market cap of $343.84 million. Its shares rose 4.6% by mid-afternoon today on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE).
