One last time

We thought the rain might bring out a larger crowd but it was the usual suspects that showed up to stitch – and there were some of those missing. Hopefully Sandra J is feeling better soon. Carol W came for lunch and we were glad to have Amy back (briefly) from her travels.

As no one (so far) has come forward to take over the blog this will be the last post. We will keep the site active in case anything changes but it will remain static. Slowly the posts will be archived so we don’t lose the content and the history of our bees.

I have enjoyed the many years that I’ve been responsible for the blog updates. I hope the posts were interesting, if not as informative as they were when Nina was in charge. I don’t think I let any secrets out of the bag but if I did I apologize. I’ll still be attending the Tuesday sessions and meetings but we hope someone else will post photos to Facebook on a regular basis.

Going forward, look for photos on our Facebook page.

Finishes

A smaller crowd today with quite a few finishes and even some new starts.

Show and Share – May

Lots of lovely finishes this month. Folks must be finishing up all their cold weather projects so they can get out and enjoy the sun.

The travellers have returned

It was a full (and noisy) house today at the bee. Lots of members sewing, lots of members coming in to enlarge their collage pictures, and lots stopping in just to visit (and we love that they do that). Donna S stopped in and brought Laura, a visitor from Sechelt. Sandy T dropped in – it is always fun to see her and hear what she’s been up to. As we were finishing up lunch Annie dropped in at her usual time – just past noon. So good to see her.

Bev is back from her winter in Arizona and, of course, she has brought a couple of beautiful finishes with her. Barb M is back from her cruise; it sounds like she and her daughter had a wonderful time.

Georgie and Darlene were getting people ready for the collage class this weekend. There will be some interesting projects coming out of this class.

Antoinette and Carol are relatively new to the bee but not new to the Guild; it was lovely to see them back again. Carol is missing the cord from her sewing machine. It was wrapped inside a toilet roll cover so if you picked it up in error from one of our bees please let her know. Our newest member, Pauline, was also in the house.

Tuesday Bee – March 26

It was a smaller group today – perhaps many of the regulars were tired after the weekend. On the other hand, many of the regulars dropped in and there were a few folks working on their Scraps Set Free project. It was such a beautiful day outside – isn’t it too early to start gardening?

We wish Barb M a Bon Voyage.

Scraps Set Free

Thanks to Karen for her Scraps Set Free class. Her creative skills showed us how all kinds of scraps, including those pesky orphan blocks, can be tied together into a beautiful work of art.

There are few rules to the process, although Karen explained the reasons behind the rules. No orphan blocks in the first row, at least one of the planned blocks in each row in order for the eye to rest, and large blocks at the bottom.

Everyone brought their bins of scraps and fabric. Talk about sharing – and look at all that was available to anyone for their choosing.

Aside from the things we actually learn in the class there are so many tips and tricks being circulated around the room. And the stories … Like the time Cathy K used a unique piece of backing on one of her wall hangings. It was also revealed that although Karen doesn’t order her wine by the truckload (as Maria tried to make us believe) she does order it in cases (as in several cases at a time).
