A guide to buying office furniture

Every office and employee needs some type of office furniture.  My job is to determine what you require, increase workplace efficiency while remaining on budget and providing quality customer care and service.

If you are considering purchasing office furniture, here are a couple of questions to ask yourself to get you start.

 1.      What type of furniture do you require: workstations, executive office suites, conference rooms or other?

Typically, there is always a mixture of furniture that is needed.  A trend that we are currently seeing is that executives are no longer wanting private offices, but instead choosing to be located with their departments.

2.      What tasks will these individuals be performing on a day-to-day basis?

Determining an individuals daily tasks will enable me to determine what type of workstation layout, chair, keyboard tray, lighting and accessories he/she requires to perform such tasks easily and more efficiently.

3.      What departments are directly related and need to work closely to each other?

Allocating departments that are closely related to one another with the integration of small ‘touch down’ areas promotes teamwork and collaboration in a fun and inspiring atmosphere.

4.     How long do you require the furniture to last?

Longevity is an important factor when deciding on which furniture to purchase.  At Terence Webster Design, we have numerous companies that have a good, better, best option to qualify the duration of your furniture.

5.     What is your price point?

I understand that office furniture is an investment.  Upon request, I will provide several options with different suggestions in order to meet your budgetary goals.

With a more comprehensive analysis, I will identify the needs of each requirement and execute a strategy that will leave you with increased employee efficiency, reduce workplace injuries due to insufficient office equipment and increased employee retention.  My goal is to leave every project with a space that you want to go into work everyday.

Can old flooring hinder business?

So I went on a shopping trip this weekend with some of the ladies in my family. There were 6 of us so we took a bus and stayed at a hotel and shopped for 3 days straight. Well… by about 12:00 on the third day I was pretty much shopped out. I had tried on so many pants and skirts and blazers that I didn’t even want to look at another clothing rack… even the one that said $3.00 and up at New York & Company!

So I spent the rest of the afternoon wandering around Millcreek Mall checking out the layouts and design of some of the stores. The biggest thing I noticed was that there are some stores that I just didn’t want to go into. What was different about these stores and why did they seem so un-appealing? Some of them, as I discovered, actually had some trendy competitively priced clothing in them but I was so put off by the initial feel and look of the space that I never bothered going in to shop.

Then it hit me. It was the flooring! The old, dated, burgundy carpet in this store compared to the light-coloured, classic and clean look of the tiled floor in the other stores was enough to make me not want to shop there.

So translating this into the office world, how many customers have not signed a deal because the carpet in the office space is outdated and doesn’t reflect the company’s success in the industry. Or maybe your walls are painted some form of green that’s a cross between forest green and spearmint… at any rate, you may not think the overall look of an office matters to your clients but apparently it really does.

Think about what it would take to refresh your space. A new coat of paint? New carpet tile? maybe even just redoing your reception area and updating the first impression you give to prospective clients.

Anyway, that was my shopping weekend. I can’t seem to leave work at the office lol design is everywhere… good and bad.

Modern Furniture Series

We would like to share with you a couple of modern furniture series that we have come across as of late.

in2design has created a line, Rolflex, that is none that we have seen before.  The lines are so clean, storage needs have been meticulously thought out and the colour options are brilliant.  To be honest, I don’t know why anyone wouldn’t love this new series.  For more information, please visit http://www.in2-design.com.  A full list of components, colours and configurations are available.  If you don’t find what your looking for, please call us.  We would be happy to help.

Leda on the other hand has taken your traditional casegood design and altered it, bringing a new style of design into play.  With the series Linear, the inlays of the squares, ribbed or scalloped detailing is unique.  A great quality  that this series has is that it can be quite formal and yet with changing a couple of finishes, it can become contemporary with the right amount of wood, stainless steel and glass.  For more information, please visit  http://www.ledafurniture.com.
