Music Therapy for Seniors and LTC
As a singer, I do shows and music programs at Retirement Residence and LTCCs.
I am a past Activities Director at a retirement residence, so I appreciate the importance of music as it relates to the spiritual, physical & social needs for your residents! My area of expertise: music engagement & education for seniors.

2024 Update
We're all very busy in our industry and I am just finding time to update and ran across a photo of one of my Christmas Choirs in the days where we were all required to mask. Some places still do but it depends on the different notices from the government directives.
It was a super busy December 2023 and let's keep the music momentum up in 2024! I'm looking forward to a lively Valentine's Day Show at a LTC location and I'm always adding new repertoire.
I loved doing a "Songs from the Movies" Show in August in North York. I did my new MARY POPPINS medley!
2023 I have been doing concerts at Long Term Care centres,
and my SING ALONG WITH KATHY program for Independent Living residents & Memory Care residents this year.
After my super busy Dec. 2021... Jan. 2022 saw restrictions.
May and June were busier, knock wood, but still not back to what it was pre-pandemic.
2021 I performed a 2-person Musical Tribute to ABBA show in Richmond Hill with Iris!
I performed with Iris and we did a fun Mardi Gras show in Etobicoke!
I did a fun St. Patrick's Day show in Scarborough with all the Irish favourites you could imagine including Dear Old Donegal and McNamara's Band!
2022 June I did a Tribute show in Grand Bend as Bette Midler, along with Karen Grainger as Cher.
Aug. 2022, I had the pleasure of doing 3 shows as Bette Midler at the
CNE on the Midway Stage!

I have incredibly fond memories of the days when I was an Activities Director at a retirement residence!
That position taught me so much of what I needed to know about seniors to bring music in my singing programs today.
One interesting learning experience for me was when my residents wanted a choir. So we tried it. Friday mornings, for 4 weeks.
But a true choir with harmonies was not really possible. Reasons for this included a.) challenges with memory, b.) resident conflicts over repertoire selection, and c.) the disparity vis-à-vis actual vocal abilty. A choir turned out to be negative experience as it actually caused some residents to feel they were inferior (which of course wasn't the case!)
So if any activities directors are searching for a group activity and a choir is on your list, I recommend instead to try a structured sing-along.... such as my SING-ALONG with KATHY program !
