Vancouver Math Tutoring Are you looking for a math tutor? My name is Kris Lidstrom, and I'm an experienced and effective math tutor. I'm located in Vancouver, BC. I'm currently tutoring online, using Zoom, and I'm available for tutoring throughout Canada. Experience and Expertise I have a lot of tutoring experience: more than 10 years worth. I am also a BC certified math teacher with 6 years teaching experience. I have taught at all grade levels from Math 7 to Math 12. I know the curriculum, what teachers are looking for, and what to expect on quizes, tests and provincial exams. Ownership for students One of my favorite things about tutoring is getting students motivated about school. I show each student how to become more involved in the problem solving process, how to realize and take advantage of math strengths, and how to critically look at wrong answers. I can determine precisely at what point in the procedure a mistake is being made, and show each student how it can be fixed and then applied to other problems and how that kind of mistake can be avoided in the future. Individual Attention One hour a week of individual attention, from a teacher, is more than most students will get all week at school. It is definitely an advantage to have that focused time with an experienced teacher. I also concentrate on test taking and problem solving strategies, and getting comfortable and skillful with a scientific calculator. Mathematical Perspective I've always been into math, since I was very young. It's not only my job, but a hobby as well. When I tutor I bring lots of positivity and patience.
