Welcome to our new website. My name is Gary Hackney and I am the current commander of the Nanoose Power and Sail Squadron. Our mission is to promote safe boating by providing education and leadership for boaters in our area. We also conduct social activities for the benefit of our members.

We are currently in the process of presenting several VHF radio courses, and you can find more information on these under the education tab on this website. We are conducting a safety Saturday on May11 at Schooner Cove Marina, and we are also participating with Schooner Cove Yacht Club on a speaker series. More information on these events can be found under

the events section of this website. The safety day will also include a rummage sale, which is a great place to find bargains on boating supplies.

We have recently conducted seminars on boating electronics and the feedback has been very positive, so we are planning more hands-on type training seminars. Please contact us if you have any suggestions or ideas for these workshops. We are considering putting on a formal radar course later in the year, so please let us know if you have an interest in participating in that course.

Our plans for conducting the traditional boating course are on hold pending a review of the new material prepared by headquarters and we need to get instructors up to speed on that material.
