With so many manufacturers and models to choose from it’s important to know how to pick the right one for your family. Here you will find a list of things to consider when you decide to purchase or rental one for home use.

Durability – The fabric should be durable to stand up to all that jumping and notice the tightness of the stitching.

Size – The first thing you will want to do is measure the space where it will be set up. Consider the overall dimensions of the bouncy house along with the actual jump space inside.

Safety – Is always a top consideration for parents so look for one made of non-toxic material and one with a well thought out design.

Capacity – Ask about the maximum weight capacity and number of children that can jump at one time, the children should be of similar weight for the safest experience.

Accessories – Many models come with their own accessories while some may not so consider that when deciding on a certain model or manufacturer. A blower to fill the bouncy castle with air as well as anchor your house to the ground can add to the price if it’s not included.

Price – With so many manufacturers there is a wide range of prices to fit every budget.

One feature many parents look for is one that has 4 mesh sides and a centrally located velcro closure. Another design has a basketball hoop, balls, more than one opening to enter or exit along with storage pockets built in for their shoes. Designed with preschoolers in mind one has a slide to provide hours of fun for the younger ages. Some manufacturers have a model with toddlers in mind that can withstand a lot of wear.

The climate on Vancouver Island is ideal for having a bouncy castle set up in your backyard for your kids to have hours of fun. When you’re thinking about renting a bouncy castle why not give Bounce on a Budget a call.

The Best Poutine In Victoria BC

I consider myself a proud Canadian. I like our winters. I like our nature. I don’t watch hockey but will root for Canada in the Olympics every 4 years.

With all this said, up until last year I had never tried poutine. Shocking I know. Poutine is basically just french fries, cheese curds and gravy. That’s the Original Quebec way which is were it originated from.

Since Poutine has blown up over the last few years they are many different takes on poutine. Just last week we had pizza poutine at Boston Pizza!

Anyways, you’re probably tired of hearing my stories about and want to know who makes the best poutine in Victoria BC. Over the last year my girlfriend and I have tried lots of different poutine dishes throughout the city. Smith’s Pub has their butter chicken poutine which I thought was the best. It deserves and honourable mention. The Mint also has a really good butter chicken poutine as well.

They were my favourites up until we attended last years Philips Back Yard Weekender and tried L’Authentique Poutine and Burgers classic poutine. The cheese curds were melted perfectly. The gravy was the best gravy I’ve ever had (sorry Mom!). And the fries they use were amazing. After scarfing down the first order we went back for another!

Now we can’t stop hunting down there food truck where ever they are in the city which usually is in the Westshore but that wouldn’t stop us. But coming in June 2019 they will be opening to location right on the inner harbour at 100 – 1208 Whaft St. This means we’ll be able to easily access their poutine as it’s just a short walk from James Bay where we live.

So no matter if you’re a local our visitor to our city and looking for the best poutine in Victoria BC, you’ll be able to try it at L’Authentique Poutine and Burgers and their Whaft St location.

Best Hearing Aids In Victoria BC

A hearing is a device used to amplify sounds to compensate for hearing loss. The basic components of a hearing aid are a microphone, amplifier, and speaker. Apart from its intended function, a hearing aid provides a boost to one’s confidence, helping to eliminate awkward situations in a conversation.

There are several models available at a wide range of features and prices, so obtaining a model that exactly suits your needs and your budget should not be a problem. For many people, aesthetics plays a big part in what kind of hearing aid to get. Be aware though that there are some hearing loss conditions that will limit your choices.

It’s standard practice to get an audio test if you think you need a hearing aid so that the exact range of hearing loss can be determined. Sometimes, what seems like progressive hearing loss is a correctable issue, such as an infection or wax buildup.

These are the factors to consider when selecting a hearing aid:

  • Style – CIC (completely-in-canal), ITC (in-the-canal), ITE (in-the-ear), BTE (behind-the-ear), RIC (receiver-in-canal), RITE (receiver-in-the-ear), or open fit. These styles have their own set of advantages and disadvantages and may or may not be appropriate for you, depending on the condition of your hearing loss.
  • Lifestyle / operating environment – the type of hearing aid that will be best for you depends on where you spend most of your time. In a noisy work setting, a noise cancellation feature will be important, while a hearing aid that emphasizes clarity will be one that a musician will highly appreciate. If background music is something that you need at work or play, then are already are models that can connect to a Bluetooth-enable device to stream music.
  • Specific features – hearing aids will contain a range of features, including noise reduction, directional microphones, telecoils (for telephone compatibility), rechargeable batteries, control synchronization (in cases of dual hearing aids), Bluetooth compatibility, remote controls, variable programming, and environmental noise cancellation.
  • Cost – depending on whether or not your health insurance will cover the cost, one will be need to consider the combination of features one really needs, and ones that would be nice to have but can do without. Determining these necessary features will be the work of the audiologist.
