In 1965, Babine Norlakes Steelhead camp began a long-standing reputation of astounding the most afflicted of anglers known to have “Steelhead fever”. Words cannot describe the magic of Steelheading on perhaps the best Steelhead river in the world, the Babine.

The Babine River is world famous for its world record size steelhead in the Class A Provincial Park called the Babine River Corridor Park. Our operation is located on trophy properties with access to BC’s finest trophy steelhead water.

GENERATIONAL EXPERTISE

You can't fake knowledge. You can't fake experience. Pursuing steelhead on the fly is a high stakes game, there is nothing more difficult in freshwater and to be successful at it you need both. What has made Norlakes the premiere experience is our focus on building and maintaining an unmatched guide program. That starts with drawing on our rich history. Preserving the intimate knowledge of the river which has been passed down for generations, from guide to guide since 1965. Continuity and communication are foundational, our team is the same year after year and they work closely together to make sure that all our guests receive the highest quality of experience and professionalism each day they are with us. We only employ career guides. A crew that has committed themselves to the pursuit of fish in wild places and helping people find that experience for themselves.

Testimonials

I have given up most of my fishing, but the Babine is magic. The beauty of the river, the solitude with no roads and very little competition for runs make it special. It is peace and quiet at its best. As I plan to return for another year I hear “Oh the Skeena system is in decline.” Well, I heard it thirty years ago so sign me up.
— Kent Davenport has fished norlakes more than 65 weeks over 30 years
Norlakes Steelhead Camp is on the forefront of doing the right things for steelhead. The first night orientation each week is spent on discussion of the proper releasing of fish (Keep ‘Em Wet), not using excessively large size hooks or flies with trailing hooks too far back and landing fish quickly. Throughout the week the owner, Billy Labonte and the professional guides reinforce these protocols. Over all it is my observation that Norlakes Steelhead Camp does it right .
— Loren Irving 20+ year Babine veteran
Hands down the best Steelhead experience anywhere.

"Babine Steelhead. I dream about them, I think about the next time, the way I’ll fish for them. The flies I’ll use. If I only had one fish to fish for it would be Babine Steelhead.
