Karma Co-op is a member-owned, democratic grocery store that offers ethically sourced, fairly priced, delicious food while reducing waste, supporting local growers, and giving you peace of mind at every meal.

In 1972, a group of Torontonians founded a food store for a community of actively participating members who felt a connection to the food they ate and the people who grew it. Together, they would be able to exercise political and economic control over their food and help to build a more win-win food system.

Fifty years later, that idea feels more relevant than ever: Consolidation within the grocery industry has led to a fundamental misalignment between the interests of the big chain grocery stores and everyday citizens. The way these companies profited during the pandemic only underscored this imbalance.

At Karma, every decision is made in the interest of members. That means you can count on competitive pricing, minimal footprint, maximal quality, and the knowledge that you’re part of the solution.

Our warm, welcoming community invites you to visit the store for one month of trial shopping at member prices. You can then decide whether a membership is right for you, and of course staff (and most members!) are only too happy to answer any questions you have along the way. Stop by today!

Attention passionate members: This year, introduce a friend or neighbour to Karma with a gift card. Available in $25 or $50 denominations, each card comes with an envelope and Karma sticker. Recipients are free to shop at Karma and are under no obligation to become members — though we’ll be sure to extend to them the warmest of welcomes so don’t be surprised if they do!
