About

Pawsitive K9 Services offers professional, experienced and friendly dog training services, dog walking services and boarding services. Our number one priority is the care, well-being, and happiness of every pup entrusted to our care.
We are not only fully insured and registered, we are certified in canine first aid and CPR by St. John Ambulance. Founded by a dedicated student of dog behavior and training Sherman Ferguson, we are uniquely qualified to welcome all temperaments, and to offer the best possible service for your dog at a very competitive price.
At Pawsitive K9 Services we are dedicated to treating every dog as if he or she were our own.
So, while our customers go about their busy lives, they can remain confident that their pups are in the best possible hands; being lovingly and competently cared for by a reliable and responsible professional. Your pup will be kept busy playing games, having fun in the park and being cuddled silly. We like to make sure our dogs are not only physically tired and mentally stimulated but are also made to feel incredibly special.

Training

I believe that the foundation for all training lays in the relationship that you build.

I feel that in teaching the dog owner to better communicate with their dog in a positive manner you will be successful in that desired relationship which will be built on trust and mutual respect.

Training should be a partnership with a focus on reinforcing desirable behaviors rather then correcting the undesirable behaviors.

I believe that you must have patience when training. We are teaching not only a foreign language but also an entire different culture to these, our wonderful companions.

Off Leash Adventure Walks

Dogs require physical and mental stimulation. If proper exercise is provided on a daily basis it will energize their body, mind and spirit. Many destructive behavioral issues displayed by dogs such as chewing household furniture, excessive barking whilst left alone, relieving themselves indoors are often the result of isolation, boredom and insufficient exercise. Dogs who are given regular, adequate exercise along with the opportunity to socialize with other dogs, are often calmer and more balanced.

My goal is to not only exercise the body but to stimulate and engage their minds, so that at the end of the day your dog is returned to you happy, contented and fulfilled.

Boarding In Our Home

When you have to leave your dog, either overnight or a week or two, you want them to be loved and cared for just like home.

“We would highly recommend Pawsitive K9. Our puppy, Brady, loves his daily walks and is very excited when Sherman comes to pick him up. Brady returns home exhausted and loves being outside playing and exploring with the other dogs. Sherman is very caring and has taught Brady new skills. We are very happy with the services from Pawsitive K9.”

Kuro

“Sherman is a wonderful dog walker! Our dog has been walking with Sherman since he was a puppy and loves his daily walks.  Sherman is extremely reliable, trustworthy, and caring and I understand he also provides pet-sitting services and we wouldn’t hesitate to leave our pup with him (and we are very protective of our little doggie!). We would highly recommend Sherman for anyone looking for a dog walker!!”

Logan & Mars

“My family and I moved to Toronto from South Africa in January 2018 with our two six-year-old dogs, a Labrador called Logan, and our Jack Russell called Mars, who were our ears and security. In S.A., the properties are very big, and the dogs don’t often get walked, ours had zero social skills. When we got to Toronto, we couldn’t walk around the block without our dogs lunging and barking at every dog and squirrel they saw. We were really concerned.

We met Sherman in February 2018. Sherman is one of the only people Mars allowed through our door without a great amount of persuading. Sherman then started walking and working with our dogs. The results were amazing.

Mars is now able to calmly and happily greet every dog we see. Logan is a pleasure to walk and is great with Sherman off lead with other dogs. He still barks at the occasional dog when he is on lead with us, but he is a hundred times better. We just need to now spend some time with Sherman training us adults, as we still have some bad habits and it’s taking us longer to get over them than it did the dogs.

Sherman also boards our dogs while we go away. It’s the first time in their lives that I don’t feel bad leaving them. They love being with Sherman, and we know they are being really well taken care of.

Sherman has given our dogs the confidence to be upstanding members of the k9 community and has helped us have confidence in them. We are all still a work in progress, but Sherman has really improved our lives and continues to do so, and we are very grateful to him.”
