Xeneca Power Development (Xeneca) is a leading Canadian-owned and operated waterpower development company working throughout Northern Ontario. We are committed to building small renewable waterpower facilities to power Ontario’s long-term economic development in an environmentally responsible manner.

Xeneca’s small waterpower projects are part of a province-wide effort to eliminate our dependency on coal-fired sources of electricity generation and to encourage development of renewable sources of electricity generation. Xeneca has 19 Feed-in-Tariff contracts through the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO), representing 72 MW of power.

We get a lot of questions about why Ontario needs more power. Currently, our province has asurplus of baseload power, but lacks peaking power production, so efforts are being made to increase availability of “stored power.” Waterpower is an excellent means to balance the supply mix. Water can be stored in headponds, or simply redirected when needed to generate power, and, unlike fossil fuels and biomass, there are no emissions.

Xeneca has the capability to build Greenfield projects from the early stages of site selection & feasibility to design, construction, operation & maintenance.
