Firestone Destination ST tires
#1
Review regards size 255/55R18 XL-rated, W speed rated tires on 18x8" RX-8 OEM rims. Mounted on a 2008 Ford Escape Limited V6 4WD (USDM) with 5mm spacers in the rear, no spacers in the front.

--------

These tires were not my first nor my second choice. In fact, technically they were my fourth choice - but they were the first complete set that I was able to get shipped in to North Bay.

They're XL load rated, so this preserves my 3500lb towing rating. They're W-rated for speed, so they're not wishy-washy at 140+ Wink The tire itself isn't noisy at all, even at speed. Its design is well thought-out and it does as it's purported to do - it tracks well at speed, handles wet roads like a champ and even does well at -5C or so on wet/icy roads.

I've put over 2000KMs on them so far and I'm impressed. Low noise, great traction, great response, the stiff sidewalls make for a WAY better driving experience than the 235/70R16 Conticraps I had on there. Now I just wish I had better fuel economy in the city :/

I don't regret the purchase one bit.

DOOD!

I am totally thinking about getting some of these as well...likely the same size as yours too, mounted on 08-09 18" Fusion SAP's. I'm also thinking of getting them in a 17 or 18" for my 77 Silverado too (mounted on either 17 or 18" American Racing "Hopster" rims).

Thanks for the positive feedback on the tires! I was searching everywhere online, and one of the hits was this thread... I LOVE the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo's for the snow and blacktrack, and in the rain, but they are TOO noisy and rough now that they are finally starting to wear down after almost 3 years of hard service. I am thinking about keeping them on the stock 16's on the Escape, and the Stock 15's on the Silverado as snow tires, and get the Destination ST's for the summer for both trucks( I have the same tires, just different size on both trucks).

What do you think?

I don't know much about the Revos, Ian, but I can say that I love the Destination STs - honestly. Even on pea gravel they aren't very flaky and I can control the truck welll at speed. They're just ridiculously quiet for W-rated sport truck tires - I get to enjoy the drive and then I get to "enjoy" the drive when the road is right. Wink

Honestly, they're more of a sport tire than the Fuzion HRis I got from Hardk0re for my Focus. This is fine, but it tells you just how much "more" they are than stockers or garbage brand tires.

My only other tires for the Escape right now are my oversize Firestone Winterforce 245/75R16s. If I plan to be "in the bush" for a bit, I'll bolt them on but as winters they're gummy as hell right now and I don't want to wear them down.
