Laura Jane Petelko, born in Toronto in 1972, is a Canadian photographic artist renowned for her emotive sincerity and intimate subject matter. Her artistic journey began in Vancouver during the early 2000s, where she gained recognition for her series “28”, which explored tender and intimate themes of a friends personal recovery. Additionally, Petelko collaborated with women in her series “Listen”,empowering them to convey their own powerful messages on their skin.

We are open to the public, Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 6 PM and Thursdays from 10 AM to 7:30 PM. Masks are no longer required but you are still welcome to wear a mask if you choose to do so. We have masks available at the front desk for any client that would like one.

It was lovely to meet with Bidemi Oloyede @bidemioloyede recently to review his tests and prints from his drum scanned negatives. Bidemi is a street and portrait documentary photographer born in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, now living and working in Toronto. He uses black and white film to capture both vulnerable and vibrant images that tell a story about his subjects and community. He combines his passion for the historical medium of photography with his interest in the human condition.
He is a firm believer in a single photograph being able to serve as a conduit for holding multiple conversations about other topics than what is displayed and we enjoyed discussing these particular photographs with him. Thanks for sharing your stories and experiences with us.

*SMASH: Between Worlds* explores the concept of navigating between worlds and will feature multidisciplinary artists whose work challenges boundaries. The show opens with a reception on Thursday, May 30th 2024, and tickets are currently available for $150.
Kyle’s art delves into the intersection of dreams and reality. Inspired by Jungian dream theory and Mandukya Upanishad scriptures, his art merges Gestalt dream interpretation with visual analysis. Through a transdisciplinary approach, he transforms successive immaterial images into tactile artifacts that oscillate between abstraction and representation. These ‘Dream Artifacts’ embody the ethereal and corporeal, creating a bridge between the physiological reality of dreams and the physicality of art. Kyle’s work probes the ambiguity of identity through Eastern and Western philosophies, inviting viewers to decipher its rich visual code and agency.

It was hard not to miss this very large map in our production area recently. It is a reproduction of a fragile artifact by the City of Toronto Museums. @cityofto @TOHistoryMuseums They do this so the original can be better preserved and the reproduction can be on display for people to enjoy, learn from, and interact with.
